Yes, I used a soldering iron and a copper wick to remove them.

The most trivial solution if you wish to disable them is to boot windows and disable them with the Gigabyte windows util. It survives reboots and shutdowns etc but seems not to survive bios flashes. I don't know if it survives BIOS resets.

this is not necessary. it is quite sufficient to install the following:
