Noticed the contentDB note, is it only subways at this point or are regional trains allowed for requests? I think a lot of people would love the amtrak acela express, since amtrak is popular in US

I do think that would be a cool train to add; but yes, right now, the mod is just focusing on subways. In the future, once I've created a few more subways, I might add other kinds of trains to the mix. That probably would mean I'd have rename the mod; or make another mod altogether.

So I'll keep this issue open (and in mind) for when the mod is a bit more stable and established. I also need time to think about how I would include other types of trains while keeping the mod within a specific category. You can expect large additions/changes to the mod in the comming weeks/months(?), so hopefully it won't take long to get the Acela added to Minetest :-).
