I had fastest-whisper working on MacBook M3, but when trying to run the same code on Windows laptop, there been problems.

OMP: Error #15: Initializing libiomp5md.dll, but found libomp140.x86_64.dll already initialized.
OMP: Hint This means that multiple copies of the OpenMP runtime have been linked into the program. That is dangerous, since it can degrade performance or cause incorrect results. The best thing to do is to ensure that only a single OpenMP runtime is linked into the process, e.g. by avoiding static linking of the OpenMP runtime in any library. As an unsafe, unsupported, undocumented workaround you can set the environment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE to allow the program to continue to execute, but that may cause crashes or silently produce incorrect results. For more information, please see http://www.intel.com/software/products/support/.

When activated os.environ['KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK']='True'

new error appeared:

[2024-08-18 20:34:06.149] [ctranslate2] [thread 7412] [warning] The compute type inferred from the saved model is float16, but the target device or backend do not support efficient float16 computation. The model weights have been automatically converted to use the float32 compute type instead.

Could someone post currently working setup for faster-whisper on PC?

Hello, here is the setup that works for my PC (Windows 10):

I use a virtual environment with the following packages:
av==12.3.0
certifi==2024.8.30
charset-normalizer==3.3.2
colorama==0.4.6
coloredlogs==15.0.1
ctranslate2==4.4.0
faster-whisper==1.0.3
filelock==3.16.1
flatbuffers==24.3.25
fsspec==2024.9.0
huggingface-hub==0.25.1
humanfriendly==10.0
idna==3.10
Jinja2==3.1.4
MarkupSafe==2.1.5
mpmath==1.3.0
networkx==3.3
numpy==2.1.2
onnxruntime==1.19.2
packaging==24.1
protobuf==5.28.2
PyAudio==0.2.14
pydub==0.25.1
PyQt6==6.7.1
PyQt6-Qt6==6.7.3
PyQt6_sip==13.8.0
pyreadline3==3.5.4
PyYAML==6.0.2
requests==2.32.3
sympy==1.13.3
tokenizers==0.20.0
torch==2.4.1
tqdm==4.66.5
typing_extensions==4.12.2
urllib3==2.2.3

From my experience, the 'OMP: Error #15: Initializing libiomp5md.dll, but found libomp140.x86_64.dll already initialized' error or similar ones are usually caused by some packages which try to use the same or very similiar .dll-files (Windows appears to be worse at managing this than MacBooks). Unfortunately, the numpy package may cause this, so it is a very frequent issue. Some people reported that deleting and reinstalling numpy or updating it solved the issue for them.

I mostly manage to avoid it by creating virtual environments in python and installing as few packages as possible. The packages above are those I use to run a small GUI for faster-whisper, so if you only want to run faster-whisper on the command line, using even fewer packages should work.

I hope this helps.

I got this problem by upgrade fast-whisper,
maybe you need to uninstall fast-whisper and the package installed by it, then reinstall them, and delete some file
it do help for me in cu12.1+cudnn8.9, I uninstalled fast-whisper and ctranslate2, then delete the libiomp5md.dll in envname/Library/bin/, and reinstall fast-whisper and ctranslate2,
or use env to ignore it

import os
os.environ["KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK"] = "TRUE"

I'm hitting this as well on a Intel Core i7 Mac running macOS 13.7.2 (22H313).

Setting the env, as @luguoyixiazi and the halting message suggests seems to work around the problem, with whatever slow downs and silent issues the notification warns us of. But, I don't have my application actually outputting a transcript quite yet, so I can't be sure.

I'll update this comment either way, if I can get a successful transcript or I experience any further issues down the line.
