Current: All accounts are shown in the information contributor field

Expected: System and curation accounts should be hidden

Suggestion: Hide "System moderator" and "System importer"

Isn't it good to see, that the item was created in the beginning as an ingest by "System importer"? I agree, that this is not well communicated to the outside, but hidding this information could also give wrong ideas about the background of the creation of an item. If in the mentioned example "Laure Barbot" and "Kevin Roger" only did minor changes, it could be wrong read that those both are the main creators of the item whereas in reality it is mainly based on an ingest.
I would propose that we should think about better communicating what "information contributors" mean and how they are involved into the creation and update processes of items.

Good point, how would we communicate this?

my 2 cents on this one:

  • we often received complaints about the confusion between "actors" and "information contributors"
  • "information contributors" is seen as a not useful field for many of our users (the exception being people really interested into metadata catalogue curation, who are sorry to say, a minority of the users we target)

My suggestion would be to group this information about contributors to the item with the history/versions of the item and to rethink the history screen (that presents other challenges/bugs). On the detail view we could keep something like a button/link "discover who curated/contributed to this MP item" or alike and leading to the history of the item in the MP, offering more details.

In the meantime, I changed the assignee of this issue, as there is nothing to implement yet.

optionally (Klaus suggestion):
if no human info-contributor just write: "ingested automatically, not manually curated"
else: list just the humans

rephrase "information contributor"
