[Bug]: New child node loses focus

Bug Description

Node created by pressing the tab key goes into edit mode but then immediately in maybe a few msec goes into a weird mode with a gray rectangle in the center (see screenshot). I say 'weird' because it's not really in view mode because hitting enter does nothing, and neither is it in edit mode.

Workaround is to press tab again which does trigger editing mode, but that shouldn't be needed.
