The dev is working on a release for newer versions, just wait for a 1.18.x release and use viaversion or multiconnect to join a 1.17.x server.

You can not save the world with 1.18 using fashion 1.16 world immediately crashes

PS: when you save the world 1.18 using 1.16 minecraft wwali but the world will be truncated to the grid 0
