Renaming our repositories

Hello Teams Toolkit friends!

I wanted to share the news that we are planning to rename the following two repositories

• TeamsFx (https://github.com/OfficeDev/TeamsFx) will be changed to teams-toolkit.
• TeamsFx-samples (https://github.com/OfficeDev/TeamsFx-samples) will be changed to teams-toolkit-samples

Why making the change

TeamsFx repository was created four years ago when we first started the project and wanted a single term that represents everything we do for Teams app development tooling, including our VS Code extension, VS extension, CLI and SDKs. But over the times we realized that this term can be somewhat confusing as it could mean different things based on context.

And until today, we wanted to use a naming that better represents what we do and the product we build, which is just the "Teams Toolkit".

We hope this further brings clarity to our customers.

Impact to you

Rest assured that renaming a repository should not affect you, as GitHub takes care of redirecting web traffic and continues to serve the git operations targeting the previous name. However, we recommend you updating local clones to point to the new URL when it comes, check out the documentation for more details.

When this will happen

We plan to make the change on 14:00 PM, 20th May CST
