[Feature] Move tags to bottom of screen and fix in place #1099
Comments
Independent of your request , but related to your screenshot: How did you achieve the tag contents being displayed below the tag list? That's exactly what I'm searching for and for which I wanted to open a request. In my setup the apps assigned to a tag appear above the tag itself, which makes the tag list’s position jump when clicking through the tags, as the number of apps assigned to each tag is different. I've looked through the various options, but was not able to find an appropriate setting… Any idea where you enabled that layout? |
@engelhro I believe that is the option under Settings -> Search -> Arrangement of search results, set to Bottom up. Though that setting won't fix your issue of the tags jumping around, but that is what this issue is for! Lol |
@bnason: Unfortunately not. I discovered that setting, but it really only changes the arrangement of search results (above or below the apps), as its name suggests. It has no influence of the position of the tags in the favorites relative to their corresponding apps… I really wonder how the screenshot above was produced – I find no way to recreate that layout, with the tags above the apps in the same card. 🤔 And I think that would solve my "jumping around issue" because then the tag list could stay in the same vertical position, with the apps extending below (and of course me needing to scroll down in case there are more apps than the screen is able to show). But currently my finger needs to move up and down permanently to find the tag list again when switching through the different tags in my favorites because each category has a different number of apps (and thus rows), and they are always aligned at the bottom. |
@engelhro if I change only that setting to Top Down, the orientation of the tags switches for me. See new screenshot. What version are you on? I'm on 1.33.1 |
@bnason: I'm on the same version, 1.33.1. And for me toggling the switch does definitely not change the orientation – I can't reproduce your first screenshot, for me the layout is always like in the second screenshot. I've even restarted Kvaesitso, but no effect. Actually I wouldn't even expect one from the name of the option, as it refers to search results only… So either I`m experiencing a bug where for me the setting is not considered, or you're experiencing some lucky bug 😉. Or that different behavior is a weird side effect of some other setting where our configurations differ. Either way, I guess I need to open a separate ticket to get that resolved. Didn't want to hijack your request. |
This! I really miss this from my KISS launcher setup where you can create "favorite" icons for tags that will display a filtered app list. The current expanding list makes the whole UI shift around which makes for a chaotic UX. |
Short update from me (the "thread hijacker", I'm sorry):
Especially the last two issues would address our problem completely I assume (if they get implemented, that is). Let's see what @MM2-0 says. |
I went ahead and created a pull request for a feature option that "inverts" the tags position relative to the app icons. #1281 |
It would be really nice to have the tags list in the app drawer be at the bottom of the screen as well as not scrolling like the search box. Ideally there would be a toggle for each of those options.
