When creating a backup on your mac of your iPhone, mac checks the free space and views purgeable space as used space. The purgeable space can grow until 100GB or more causing full disk issues.

sudo tmutil deletelocalsnapshots $(sudo tmutil listlocalsnapshots / | tail -n +2)
