If you don't have enough to say to create your own post, then comment on this post (eg with a +1 or a very short comment) then we can keep everyone up to date / will know how many people are interested. Also, it would be great if you could email [email protected] so that we have a way of getting in contact with your directly via email. We will post here and via email but I know that I don't always look on github/have too many things I'm subscribed to and email is sometimes a better way.

Hello IllusionVk,

I will be following this project. We really need a cheaper alternative to Appflow for a code-push/like feature.

I'm sending you an email to keep in touch.

Also, if we want direct interaction should we create a discord for faster exchange/chat?

Thanks!

Hey @raphjutras thanks for your message. and yep I think that if we can get a small working group together and all contribute some time we can come up with something that can be self hosted on our own servers, and work just as well as AppCenter.

Did you use CodePush in the old Days before MSFT took it over ? my understanding is that (based on the licensing) by using the current code push plugin for mobile + https://github.com/lisong/code-push-server that we could have a viable solution pretty quickly ? I may be naive or too optimistic though.

Also I emailed a few other people who had commented on the MSFT post and they have replied via email and expressed interest also... In regards to how we should engage, I am happy to use anything that helps to grow the group of people who can all help to devote some engineering time... I think that should be our number one objective.... Thoughts ?

I am part of the 1% that still believes in Cordova. I love being able to make cross-platform apps using Vue and Cordova, it has so many benefits and gives total flexibility. The only part of AppCenter I use is for CodePush, and I'll be looking forward to a self-hosted alternative. Thanks for making this repo and for giving us hope to continue using Cordova for many more years to come!

@byronigoe Oh yes already saw and starred all 3 repos and added to my watch list!! Thank you so much for taking the initiative here! You make the future seem very bright in regards to code-push!

Before code push we used https://github.com/nordnet/cordova-hot-code-push . it was clunky but when supported it worked well just based of having your code hosted on an aws s3 bucket. Issues with newer versions of WKWebView forced us to move to app center code push.

Now we find ourselves in the same situation. Having to jump around every couple of years.

How has the experience been moving over to a hosted https://github.com/lisong/code-push-server ?

Hey @rayelward we did the exact same thing.... One of my team has just modified the current server that @byronigoe did to support MS SQL Server, this wont be helpful for everyone, but its needed by us... Now we are installing it on our Dev server and then we will start to test some more. Initial testing with iOS has gone well and Android is currently in progress.

Once these tests have passed I plan to

  • do a Pull request to give everyone the changes we made to allow support of using a MS SQL server (again maybe no one else needs this)
  • Start to update this Repo more with some instructions and notes that we found in our testing etc

So hopefully we will know more in the next few days as long as we don't get too distracted by other work etc 👍
