[Bug] Chatbox messages frequently fail to appear until a page refresh

Expectation

The UNIT3D chatbox should display all messages sent via the chatbox, without the need to refresh the page. All users browsing the chatbox should be able to see all messages sent to the chatbox by all other uses at all times.

Description

In Firefox 133.0.3 (64-bit) for Windows 11 Home (x64) Version 24H2, it frequently occurs that a seemingly random chatbox message won't appear, while other messages sent to the chat appear as normal. The missing messages are noticed because: a) the page is refreshed and they appear, b) they are relayed to IRC and noticed there, or b) another user quotes or responds to the missing message.

Other users on different browsers and operating systems report the same issue.

Other users also report the same behaviour on multiple UNIT3D sites.

Fix your issue description. You local os is not what's important. The sites os, php and laravel version is. Also check browser console for errors. Is site using cloudflare?

Have seen this happen on my own messages, I send a message, it shows and then it disappears

I am not the site admin, just a user. Other users report this same bug occurring on multiple UNIT3D sites.

The PHP version is 8.3.12 and the site's operating system is Ubuntu 20.04.

The site is not using Cloudflare, as far as I'm aware.

Edited to add: The Laravel version is 11.

There is also multiple site where it works fine. Again since your not admin check your browser console for errors
