text cursor doublevision

i have a text.app with a text cursor problem.
my problem is ill "enter" down three or four lines and move back up and the cursor mayb still flash in a shaded way in the spot where i "enter" to even though my useable text cursor will be in the spot i want it.
makes it hard sometimes while taking notes to have two cursors on the screen.
