There is still some combination of cookies that lets you access the site through twitter.com without redirecting. I still have these cookies, so while I expect to go from fixupx.com to x.com because of the namesake (I should probably make clear that yes, I hate this rebrand too LOL), I end up on twitter.com.
On top of this I am logged in to multiple accounts on both domains, and the active one that is chosen can be different on x.com and twitter.com, given that cookies cannot be shared between domains.
fxtwitter.com can keep redirecting to twitter.com if possible.

Is this issue still relevant? You're right that this was true then, but as far as I can tell at some point they made it so it always redirects to x.com haha
Sorry for the late reply! In my case this does not happen anymore and I get redirected to x.com now.
It does seem still that if you add ?mx=1 parameter to the end of a twitter.com link then you still can stay on twitter.com, however you seem to stay on twitter.com only for that session. In other words, if you go to twitter.com using ?mx=1, go to a different website and then go back to twitter.com you then go to x.com. You will only stay on twitter.com if the URL you jump to has ?mx=1 on it.
While fixupx.com's functionality seems to have stayed the same (redirecting to twitter.com first), ultimately this is "fixed" by X (formerly Twitter) itself AFAIK. In theory it could still be possible to stay on twitter.com in some way, I was just not able to find out how. I remember disabling the redirect through some parameter that made it persist in my cookies, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was so I can't check if it still works. I'll leave it up to you if this is still a relevant issue.
