Would you consider adding a crucible that turns ores/items into blocks?
I made a side-view of how it could look. Excuse the bad drawing and handwriting.

Perhaps something like this? Using netherbricks, the block between the magma and the hole could be a control-block (with a channel).

Then place a slab on the magmablock (shame it hides it, so maybe the controlblock should be slightly lower, showing the magma behind it?)

And then just build up 2 high, leaving the block on the front open.

Just a thought. Feel free to dismiss; it's your mod :)

Maybe like so?

@ash70 im not sure about in-world pouring of molten metal into molds. what do you think?

@EnderiumSmith : Molds would make things too complex in my opinion. Casting blocks, and then 'working' those into ingots or other shapes seems fine to me. Be it by putting a block in a crafting table and getting 9 ingots or using more elaborate means like the artisan worktable mod e.g, but that is up to the packdev.
Mind you, I do wish someone would remake the anvils from TFC, albeit in a less frustrating way.

but if you can only cast blocks what do you do about nuggets left over?

I was thinking the crucible would start pouring once it had enough ore to form a block. As long as it doesn't have that, it would drop the ore when you break the controller. I suppose (depending on the ore-to-block-ratio) this means you can have a loss of a few nuggets. I propose to just delete those.

Still, if you want to put the effort into it, (clay) molds would allow for more control, but in that case I would think you need to add the ability to let users make their own mold-shapes with crafttweaker (like in the foundry mod) and not just limit it to blocks/ingots/nuggets.

i was thinking of having a one block crucible like in TFC then flip it to pour like a bucket if it pours on the ground

no problem. It's your mod ;)
The most important parts for me are diversity and flexible configuration/crafttweaker support. That, and I have a weakness for multiblock structures, but I can see how a one block crucible would make sense.

i plan to have the crucible be part of the blast furnace multiblock.
