The https://github.com/r1chardj0n3s/parse library may provide a simpler mechanism for extracting data in the simple labelled case.

Note also that http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/API/sandbox/index#!/Records/Records_GetRecord returns more structured descriptive metadata in scopeContent[description]. However, querying individual records would soon hit the suggested request limits.
