I know that there are already programs for that , but if we add ability to control fan speed to istat + daemon mode it will make this tool much more usefull.

Fan control would certainly be interesting. What use cases do you have in mind for daemon mode?

If we implement some rrd storage and automated fan control .. it should be running on background so why not make it to a full daemon. We can start on creating manual fan control (no need for bg) and think about are logging /automation worth a while.
