A claims EDI and a lot of datasets are coded by the CAQH Payer ID. There are also publicly available lists and lookups by CAQH Payer ID. I think requiring plans that use EIN for non-employer plans also include CAQH Payer ID would make it much more easier to link the data with other datasets and payer lookups.
