The vocabulary for Chemical Markup Language formally defined in XML Schema is very useful for consistently describing substances and other entities. XML Schema is useful for encoding and validating instances with XML.
It may also be useful to use a graph database and graph analytics to discover relationships between instances of substances or other entities defined in CML and instances from other vocabularies defined in ontologies. Complementary vocabularies defined as ontologies include CHEMINF, ChEBI, and others. The "Ontology-based Data Integration" section of the PubChemRDF Release Notes describes how instances from multiple vocabularies can be integrated.
The goal of this issue would be to define how instances of CML in XML could be mapped to RDF triples. An example use case would be to integrate CML instances with instances in PubChemRDF.
