Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It should be possible for AutoPhot to determine the variance map under certain conditions. Some fits images include a weight map already, others are in units that make it easy to determine the variance map. Having this automated would be helpful.

Describe the solution you'd like
While it can't work for all images, there are some where this should be straightforward.

Describe alternatives you've considered
currently this is a manual process for all images.
