The current recovery mechanism has a flaw ... if you didn't think to save your token anywhere before needing it, there isn't anything you can do.
Under Setting -> Sharing, in addition to Sex and Birth Date, could an optional field be added to allow entering email address?
Not required, but if it is set, the email address would be included as part of statistic, and could be used as a means of searching for tokens belonging to the same user.
No password would be required, as we'd use the same mechanism as before, where a one time password would be emailed to the person to login and view their TOKENs.
The only way to recover settings in the app would still remain the token itself, so to find your token, you would need to go to the site and login.
As mentioned above, this would be a totally optional field ... everything would continue to work as is without it ... this is only mean to give the ability for people, who so choose, to be able to find their old TOKENs if needed for recovery purposes.

Currently the only recovery used in iAPS was created for version 5.6.0 to avoid any lost settings when updating to this version. This recovery is semi-automatic, you only need to tap a button to confirm. For this recovery you don’t need to know or enter your token.

[Feature Request] Add optional email field to Sharing
Dec 20, 2024
The profiles branch, if I recall correctly, was going to add the ability to enter a TOKEN on starting up new iAPS, but even without that, the ability to search for and be able to see older settings via the web site would allow for, at least, someone to see and manually enter their old settings on a reset.
Waiting for something like profiles to be added means that this would only be useful going forward from that point, while adding it now means that this would be useful now, even if for accessing and manually setting.
