step zero:

Talk with @justinfisk to get ahold of his docker scripts.

step one:

  • launch a GIPS job on AWS that runs the landsat system tests.
  • document all steps.

Our conversation makes me want to clarify the direction of this task, so I have updated the description. But the basic idea is to run the landsat system tests as a marker that gips can fetch, process, and export data. Once we can do that, then will have a baseline for modifying the fetch to use S3 buckets.

Update: I can build a container with a gips that runs; the scene under test isn't a valid landsat fetch for some reason (transition to C1 somehow?) so I'm using 2015-359 instead, and just running the gips commands manually. Anyway it works for the gamut of fetch, process, project, and stats.

Meanwhile I'm attempting to programmatically discover and download an S3-stored landsat scene per https://aws.amazon.com/public-datasets/landsat/.
