I can't say for sure if all RTS engines are supported, but I think they should be. |

Thank you very much for your quick and detailed response! I understand also that the IO System is much better as you described but I really want to be able to control it directly from Homey. My homey sits approximately 5 meters away from the awning, with one thins wall in between. So it’s quite close to the engine.do you think that will work with the RTS 433 MHz?
The Tahoma Centre is surely also a good device but I think it is a little bit unnecessary to have that since I already has Homey to control all my devices in my house. This Somfy Connection Kit sounds very interesting.what is the difference between that kit and the Tahoma control centre?
Thank you again in advance!

IO is a much better system than RTS as it has two way communications, so you will be able to see the status of the awning in Homey. With RTS you can send commands to control it but will not know if it worked or if another remote has been used to operate it.
The other thing to consider is distance between Homey and the awning, as Homey's signal is not very strong so it might not reach. I had that issue with my system, hence why I'm using the Tahoma hub.
If the Tahoma hub is too expensive then you might want to consider the Somfy connection kit. I've not had any personal experience with that but there are users of the Tahoma and Connexoon app that have it.

Ah ok I see, thanks again. My dealer suggested either the RTS or the IO engine, the price difference was minimal. The only this is that I then have to buy either the Tahoma Switch or the Connectivity kit. But if I understand you correctly, you recommend the IO engine much more if the price is basically the same? What would you do in this case? :)
The model my dealer recommended for my terrass awning is called "Somfy SUNEA i-o". Do you think this is supported via your app?
Regards / Tobias

If I remember correctly (it was a few years ago) my Homey could control my curtains that were in the same room as Homey but not the others.
I think the connectivity kit is just a very basic connection point with no other features, but I haven't seen or used one so I could be wrong. All I know is I have added support for several devices for users with the connectivity kit.

Perfect, I think i will get the IO model then also. I have a normal older Homey (2019), but that will also work right? I can send you the logs if there is need for adding support?
In any case, I think also that im going with this new device, Somfy Connectivity Kit. Probably it will work fine with Homey as you said. If not, then i will still be able to controll the awning via the Tahoma App, and there is also support for Google Home Voice control via the app. Of course it would be nice to have the opportunity also to integrate with flows in Homey, but propably it will work with your app :)

If I knew then what I know now, and I had a choice I would have got IO.
At that time, in the UK, there were no IO blinds or curtains being advertised.
If you have a have a Homey Pro then I can add support for new devices easily from the logs that my app gathers. Unfortunately those logs can't be accessed by Homey cloud so it will be a bit harder. However, there is a good chance it already has support. I don't see the same names for the devices in the app as they are sold by so I can't say for sure if that specific engine is supported.

Ah ok I see. That sounds good also, but adding LAN support wont mean that current Internet support is gone right?

Yes, any of the ball shaped Homey's are now called Pro's, so that will be fine.
One other thing to confuse the situation is Somfy are in the process of adding local connections to Tahoma. That means Homey will be able to communicate with Tahoma over the LAN, so no Internet connection will be required (apart from a one-time authentication). Not that I want to make your decision any harder 😉

Hi! I’m planning on purchasing a terrace awning with an engine from Somfy. I really want this awning To be able to be connected to Homey.
Do you need the Somfy Tahoma system as well or is Homey able to connect directly to the RTS engine via 433mhz? I don’t want to buy another “hub”. But maybe if I want to connect directly, the only option is going for the RTS engine and using the official Athom Somfy App? My dealership suggested a more modern “i-o” engine from Somfy instead of the older RTS engine namely.
Is ALL Somfy RTS engines for terrace awnings supported in this app?
Best regards/ Tobias Andersson
