Hello,

It looks like the main dev is now releasing an "OSS" version on GitHub. What are the differences between this fork and the original?

When asking the developer about their OSS version, they said, "OSS version is stripped from all Google dependencies and it also does not include all the premium features (but also no ads)."

Does this version have the premium features / no ads?

Thank you for the information - just trying to make an informed decision on which to install.

I'm currently not sure what I do with this fork, my original intention was just to give users an OSS option for the app and I never planed to add or change features. My version has no premium and no ads too but it's possible to unlock premium features by changing the config file via a root explorer (thats's not possible with the new official OSS version as far as I know). For the future I'll either discontinue the fork in favor of the official OSS version or I keep it like my own version of the app with maybe a few changes or new features.

Original Showly do not accept new more localization. The developer said so when someone wanted to contribute a Greek translation. Then I also want to contribute the Vietnamese translation. But got no response. Here it is different, this fork has accepted my Vietnamese translation pull require.

Please let me know what needs to be changed in the config file?

There's another issue about paid options where I explain this

Currently, this fork can activate Premium. The official one is can't.

Personally I would like to keep using this fork if it continues to be updated, even if only for the fact that it is available through F-Droid rather than the Google Play Store.

I'll probably update this fork to the new OSS version while keeping small modifications like the Vietnamese translations.

Btw. Can COLLECTION string be given localized files? See picture below!

Instead of “Pirates of the Caribbean Collection” it should be “Loạt phim Pirate of the Caribbean” in Vietnamese.

Is it possible to request an updated version? The main app just released v3.35.1. The new history tab sounds interesting.

Thank you!

I appreciate having OSS version.

Please consider:

  • putting donation link or something similar so we can c9ntibute outside PlayStore

Unfortunately updating to the new official OSS version would break the ability to enable premium features with root via the hidden config and since I currently don't have the time to look into that (also not sure if that hack will even work at all in the new version). That's why I decided to just stay on the current version until I have time to fix it or there are any bugs that would require updating. So far I didn't see any problems with the current version and it should still be usable perfectly fine.
